happy happy Monday!!

It is Monday, right? I find it increasingly difficult to remember what day it is. Anyone else experiencing this?

For the first time in my life, everyone I know (indeed, I think it’s safe to say everyone in the world) has been affected in some way by the current global pandemic.

Whether it’s:

  • job loss/change

  • working from home

  • kids home 24/7

  • schooling children at home

  • relationships ending

  • moving in with parents

  • restrictions on movement

  • health challenges

  • food insecurity

  • illness

  • hospitalization

  • increased work stress

  • disruption of daily activities

  • vacations cancelled

  • financial stressors

  • loss of time with family and friends

  • lack of sleep

  • worry, anxiety, fear

  • technological changes

  • career uncertainty

  • unpredictability

  • loss of control

Truly, the list can go on, and on, and on…

for humans, this degree of change in such a short time is considered trauma.

At the very least, it is extremely stressful.

So how are YOU doing?

its so easy to compare to others experiences

Some are “what the f***?!?!?!?” with this experience and some are “where’s the fun?” Some it just depends on when you ask.

There is room for both (and everything in between).

mindfulness is a proven tool to cope with trauma, stress, and improve wellbeing

Mindful Monday has become even more important.

I dedicated Mondays to mindfulness because through my own journey with traumatic brain injury, I suffered countless losses from circumstances outside of my control. Mindfulness helped me to stay in the moment, to decrease stress, and ultimately learn how to cope healthfully with stressors.

this is stress resilience

Today, I’m sharing a mindful breath exercise with you. It’s three minutes long, and will help you come back to the present moment and out of fear, anxiety, and stress. It’s a powerful tool to utilize daily.

30 days of mindful movement

If you liked the exercise and enjoy my weekly Mindful Minutes, then you will love my 30 Days of Mindful Movement virtual course.
