how to : get unstuck
Do you ever feel stuck in a rut?
In August, I was feeling very stuck in regards to my health, career, and personal life.
If you’ve been following me for long, you may know that my health, career, and therefore my entire life have been turned upside down by traumatic brain injury and its aftereffects.
Add in covid19, a stubborn puppy, and new treatments, I felt stuck—trapped in my own reality.
I’m fortunate to have tons of support from Brian, family, friends, clients, and a team of medical professionals to help me work through these challenging circumstances.
In my experience, I felt that I needed to keep solving problems to get out of my rut. I thought that if I could create the perfect routine, see the right doctor, or read another book I could pull myself out of the rut.
Does this sound familiar to you?
What I found through research, trying a bunch of things, and working with my community of experts might surprise you!
I needed to increase my awareness of the feelings, thoughts, and subconscious reactions of my body to my circumstances.
Enter mindfulness.
Today’s mindful minute is a simple breathing tool to help tune in to your body.
Try it, right now. Whatever you’re doing, take one minute to do this exercise.
Remember that you can always download the slide and save it to your phone (when we’re stressed, we will not naturally remember to be mindful!).
Now that you have practiced the tool . . .
What do you notice?
Try to answer without judgement. Whatever you notice is simply what you noticed; it’s not right, wrong, or indifferent.
Can you make a reminder to yourself to do this once a day this week??
if you want to take another step forward . . .
Consider signing up for a two-hour workshop I am co-teaching this Saturday with Baptiste Power Yoga Phoenix.
Using meditation, yoga, and journaling, we are going to practice tools to “get unstuck.” I had the idea to develop and host this workshop as I reflected on my own experiences with feeling stuck.
I am looking forward to this interactive, virtual workshop!
